EMBODIMENT
Last week, I was leading meditation and, as we always do afterward, we opened the floor for discussion.
One of the participants asked me a question:
“What does your personal practice look like? Do you practice Reiki every day?”
I was stumped for a moment.
What does my practice look like?
I had to sit with that question.
I’m currently in two qigong classes, both year-long commitments that require daily practice, so my immediate answer was easy: yes, I practice qigong every day.
But what about Reiki?
Do I sit in Reiki practice every day?
Reiki was a daily practice for me for years
After that conversation, I started paying closer attention.
What I noticed was that somewhere along the way, my practices had begun weaving themselves together.
They had become so interwoven that I almost stopped noticing I was doing it.
I begin by reciting the Reiki principles. I sit with Reiki meditation practices before moving into qigong. I end with sitting meditation, which is also part of my Reiki practice.
My practices have become so woven into daily life that I no longer stop to ask what I am practicing.
I am simply practicing every day and allowing whatever organically wants to arise to arise.
In many ways, this is also how I am learning to approach life—and how I teach.
Practicing consistently until the practice is no longer something you do, but something you embody.
I will end with this from the Tao Te Ching
“Do your work, then step back. The only path to serenity.”
